FAQs
What is coaching?
At its core, coaching is simply a conversation, but the magic happens when the conversation is focused on what's important to you.
As your coach, I will partner with you as you set goals, creating space for you to name and take ownership of your unique strengths, values, skills and resources and define a path that moves you forward. I will help you uncover any barriers that may arise in the pursuit of your goals, and help you identify strategies for navigating those barriers.
I will collaborate with you on this journey, but it is – at all times – driven by you.
Coaching is not therapy, advice or an expert opinion, nor is it mentoring or training. I do not have all the answers you need – my commitment to you is that I will partner with you to find them, together.

What are examples of challenges you work with clients to address?
The following are some common scenarios that my clients explore in their quest for more holistic wellness:
I'm seeking clarity on some decisions I need to make.
I am struggling to juggle all the competing demands on my time.
I'm stressed and unhappy. I know something needs to change, but I'm having a hard time figuring out what... or how.
I know what I enjoy doing and I want to do more of it in my life but I don't know where to start.
I'm transitioning into a new role or job, and I want to set myself up for success.
I have a challenging relationship that I need help navigating.
It's not uncommon for clients to come to coaching with a specific goal only to find that their focus and priorities change over time. As I partner with you as your coach, the direction of our time together is always set by you and is driven by what’s most important to you.
Do I need a coach?
If any of the scenarios above sound like something you would benefit from exploring, then let's chat.
Coaching will help you develop strategies to navigate the disruptions and surprises that life likes to bring our way and is a powerful tool in building resilience and confidence. If that’s important to you, a coach is an important part of your personal network.
When is coaching most successful?
Clients experience the most success from a coaching partnership when they adopt a growth mindset and bring a desire to make a change. Change is not easy and the process can be challenging, but the pay off is worth it!
What are the principles that drive Coach Suzy’s coach approach?
I believe that when people are regularly using their strengths, they live a fulfilling life and experience happiness that spills over into the lives of those around them – win, win! By exploring what works and what is “right” for you, we partner to envision a future in which you are successful. We focus on how to get there instead of the roadblocks that will prevent forward movement.
How do I know if Coach Suzy is right for me?
A very important question! A coach is a partner, and it's important that you find the right partner for you. The best way to evaluate if we are a good fit is to spend some time together.
What is the significance of the spiral in your logo?
The spiral is a koru, the Maori word for loop. Read more about the koru and it’s significance to my coaching practice here.
What do you mean by “wellness”?
I believe that when you are well, all the pieces of what makes you unique are in harmony, enabling you to perform at your peak. Nothing is causing you to expend energy in a way that does not strengthen you.
You can read more about what I mean by wellness on my Wellness philosophy page.
Are wellness coaching and health coaching the same thing?
I believe that the two are related, but different. I’m not a medical professional, nor am I certified in any physical or nutritional specialties. In my role as wellness coach, I will work with you to identify goals in each of the dimensions of wellness that are important to you, and partner with you to develop a plan to achieve those goals. This plan may include working with another professional, such as a personal trainer or nutritionist.
